ILC Project – Parenting from Afar
What can I do when my kids are in care?
The WASH House and the Intellectual Disability Rights Service are partnering to deliver a project.Sydney University are doing the research (PAR – participatory action research) and evaluation.
Funding for the project is though the ILC grant ( Information, linkages and capacity building) from the NDIA ( National Disability Insurance Agency).
The project will run from July 2018 – June 2020.
Parents who have a disability and have a lived experience of having a child placed in care permanently will provide input and direction throughout the project.
The Project Will:
Work with parents who have an learning (intellectual) disability to develop resources that will support parents who have an intellectual disability at the time when their children are placed in permanent care.
Ensure resources will be accessible to parents with a range of cognitive abilities and cultural backgrounds.
Trial and share the resources.
